"Upsets" in the Atmospheric Conference!

Both Wild Cards knocked off the Division Champs
in the Atmospheric Wild Card Playoffs. The
Beverly Hillbillies rallied to score three come-
from-behind victories to earn a 4-1 series win
over Toxic Waste. After winning G-1, the Toxins
saw three blown saves put them into a 3-1 hole.
A pair of Toxin errors in the 5th inning of G-5
led to 5 unearned runs and a series win for the
Hillbillies. Toxin star Mark Teixeira hit only
.174, with 2 RBI. Hillbilly Ryan Zimmerman
hit .476 (10-21) and Omar Infante had 5 hits,
but 5 RBI. In the other playoff, after Rensselaer
had tied the series at 2-2, Rocky Mountain's
pitchers came through, leading the Chinooks to
a 4-2 series win. Chinook Ryan Howard blasted
5 HRs in the six games, while C.C. Sabathia
notched 2 wins and "Ace" closer Joe Nathan was
perfect in 3 save opportunities.

In the Oceanic Conference, the Walla Walla
Wombats lost G-1 to 'Skayuna and had to go 10
innings to win G-2, before rolling to a 4-1
series win. Wombat Jonathan Papelbon earned
a relief win and 3 saves (ERA 0.00), keeping
his record perfect (45-45) in 2009. The
Valparaiso Drench once again knocked off a
powerhouse in the first round, this time
sweeping Danny Way. Drench star Ben Sheets
picked up 2 wins and "Ace" closer Cory Wade
(ERA 0.00) saved 3 wins. The Drench were
10-10 in SBs in the 4 games.
