TML Biff Barnes Highlight Reel - April 2010
=============================================
What's in that Hillbilly "moonshine?"
Despite all the bickering in the front office,
the Beverly Hillbillies (21-5) put together
the best start of any TML team. GM Mike
Dickinson held a mandatory team meeting to find
out WHY they lost those 5 games! Their pitching
was oustanding, with a league-leading 2.91 ERA.
"Pitcher of the Month" Roy Halladay leads the
TML with a 1.30 ERA and a 5-1 record. He also
had 4 CG and all six of his starts were QS.
Teammates Justin Verlander and Dan Haren were
also 5-1. "Ace" closer Huston Street (0.75)
was 8-8 in Save opportunities. Travis Hafner
sparked the offense (.369, 7 HR, 22 RBI, 21 RC).
Beverly already leads the Gatto Division by
6 games over Valparaiso.
Traffic (15-11) is the early leader in the
Gehrig, 2 games over Toxic Waste. In the
Robinson, the Duluth Thundercats have clawed
their way to a stunning 4-game lead over
Rensselaer!
Over in the Oceanic Conference, Danny Way and
a re-built Arkansas squad both rolled to a 20-6
record and lead the Ruth by 10. Defending TML
Champ Walla Walla is in front of their new
Steinmetz Division, leading 'Skayuna by 3 games.
And, in the Williams, Rocky Mountain and Oklahoma
are only 1 game apart.
-------------------------------------------------
Brandon's Ryan Braun leads the TML in batting with
a lofty .412, followed by Albany's Hanley Ramirez
(.409) and Walla Walla's Michael Bourn (.404).
Bourn also swiped 21 bases during the month, but
was also CS 8 times. 'Skayuna's Albert Pujols,
"Co-Player of the Month." leads in HR (17), RBI
(34) and SLG (.903)! The other "Co-Player of the
Month," Valparaiso's Adrian Gonzalez also put up
big numbers, including .396, 13 HR, 33 RBI and a
league-leading .496 OBP.
In other pitching categories, Perth's Tom Greinke
leads in K with 65. The early Saves leaders at
9 SV are Arkansas' Angel Guzman and Duluth's David
Aardsma. Amsterdam's Jorge de la Rosa had a
tough start, going 0-5, 11.20 (.363 OAVG).
Below are some awards and tid-bits from April 2010
in the TML American.

He sparked each big inning in the 2nd, 5th and

tagged for 11 runs. He only allowed 8 hits in
6.2 IP, but it was the 12 walks (and Pujols)
that "killed" him!

Four days later in the same series, the 2-man
Squires due of Yovani Gallardo and Manny
Delcarman No-Hit the Staring Rabbits. Even
though he had thrown 135 pitches and with a
10-0 lead, Gallardo was visibly upset with his
MP for taking him out of the game to start the
9th. (Could this be the same "No-Hitter Glitch"
that struck Maine's Danks last season?)
