Carolina and Valparaiso in Show-down!
Suzuki spoils Pujols' bid for Triple Crown!
The Carolina Crawfish stumbled at Beverly once
again, and the Valparaiso Drench caught them to
tie for the Atmospheric Conference Wild Card.
Carolina won the exciting tie-breaker playoff,
3-2. Without hesitation, Beverly (best record
in the Conference) selected Carolina as their
first round opponent. That leaves Toxic Waste
hosting Rensselaer.
In the Oceanic Conference, the Arkansas Travs
rode out the string to a TML best 114 wins.
Arkansas selected the Rocky Mountain Chinooks
as their first round opponent. Walla Walla
will host Danny Way in the other playoff.
-------------------------------------------------
Madison's Ichiro Suzuki denied 'Skayuna's Albert
Pujols the Triple Crown, by hitting .439 in the
final month, taking the batting crown at .359.
Pujols finished 2nd at .357. Pujols did run away
with 162 RBI and 66 HRs, not to mention leading
the TML in SLG (.761), Runs (141), EXBH (127)
and RC (214)! Suzuki led the TML in Hits (231)
and has now had 200+ hits in every one of this
nine seasons in the TML and now has 2093 Hits for
his career! Valparaiso's Adrian Gonzalez blasted
58 HRs. Walla Walla's Michael Bourn "ran away"
with the SB crown, with 85 SBs. Albany's Hanley
Ramirez was 2nd with 81 SBs.
In pitching, there were three 22-game winners,
Toxin Javier Vazquez (22-6), Danny Way's Scott
Baker (22-7) and Beverly's Justin Verlander
(22-8). Carolina's Brett Anderson won the ERA
title at 2.67, with Perth's Zack Greinke at 2.69.
Also joining the "20-win Club" were Arkansas'
Josh Johnson (20-4), Rocky Mountain's Scott
Kazmir (20-4), Beverly's Dan Haren (20-5), Danny
Way's Wandy Rodriguez (20-5) and Rocky Mountain's
Tim Lincecum (20-7). Greinke took the Strikeout
Crown with 283 Ks, 5 more than Verlander. The
"Fireman of the Year" award goes to Toxin C.J.
Wilson with 50 SVs.
Below are some awards and tid-bits from the
