OCEANIC CONFERENCE FINAL:
The Rocky Mountain Chinooks and the Walla Walla
Wombats split the first two games. The Chinooks
won an extra-inning thriller in G-3, but the
Wombats regrouped and rode strong pitching
performances by Cliff Lee and Ryan Dempster to
take a 3-2 advantage back home. In G-6, the
Chinooks opened up an early 7-0 lead and hung on
to win the slug-fest 11-7 and force a G-7. Scott
Kazmir (20-4 on the regular season) rose to the
occasion and led the Chinooks to a commanding
7-1 victory and their second consecutive trip to
the TML World Series!
For Rocky Mountain, five different players had
5+ RBI. Russell Martin led the attack, batting
.391 (9-23), with 6 runs and 5 BBs. In what
seems to be an odd, but effective move, the
Chinooks again gave the ball to Brett Cecil and
his 3-16, 6.67 regular season record!

ATMOSPHERIC CONFERENCE FINAL:
The Carolina Crawfish took the first two games
on the road from the Toxic Waste River Rats, a
team that had been very tough to beat in their
home ballpark. G-2 was an 11-0 beat-down. The
Toxins rallied late to win G-3, but dropped
G-4 by a score of 3-2. In G-5, Mark Buerhle
hurled a CG 5-hitter for the Toxins to send the
series back home. G-6 was a battle of bullpens,
won by the Toxins in the home 9th, to force a
G-7. The series finale developed into a
pitching duel between Brett Anderson and Javier
Vazquez. The Carolina bullpen preserved the
3-1 led and send the Crawfish to their first
ever TML World Series!
For the Crawfish, Nelson Cruz was a terror,
batting .500 (8-16), with 7 RBI and 3 HRs.
Though only getting one win, Brett Anderson
(2.55) was their pitching star, coming
through with three solid GS! The Carolina
staff ERA was 2.59 and that includes four
games in the launching pad, known as "Yankee
Stadium!"
For the Toxins, the heart of their order
(Rolen,Teixeira,Ibanez) combined for a .197
(14-71) average and their "Ace" starter,
Vazquez (22-6 in the regular season), was
0-2 in his three GS.
